Unfortunately, there are times in our lives when situations or results just cannot be sufficiently explained to our satisfaction. When this happens, we or others might have to settle for a reason or explanation. . . or go in search for an explanation. In the Crucible, the villagers are without a medical explanation for the girls' behavior, so they point to witchcraft as the explanation. . . this historical event coined a term still used today when we cannot reach a definitive conclusion. . . that term is "witch hunt". Think of a time your life when something couldn't be explained and you felt that you were given just any ole' explanation to keep you quiet. How did that feel? And how do you think the accused witches in Salem felt when they were arrested for something that they did not do. Can you think of other times in history when people were blamed or arrested for something of which they had no involvement?
Explain your personal experience and then compare and explain another time in history when a situation turned into what we today allude to as a "witch hunt". . . which is an allusion to the tragic trials of Salem, Massachusetts.

ReplyDeleteWell a time in my life when something happened that I couldn't explain was: this one timeI had to proform at my church for the thanksgiving survice. I prformed and everything was going great I got through the whole dram perfect put at the end I couldn't remember anything I had just done I still have not figured out why that happened.
A time in history that a group of people or person was blamed for something they conuldn't control was the Jews during the Holocaust. The Jews could not control what group of people they were born into neither could they controll that they where a certain hair, eye, or skin color. I believe that it was definatly unfair and unfortunate.
A time I could not explain was when I forgot all the words of my valectorian speech even though the words were in front of me. I couldnt get the words to come out. After Pearl Harbor was bombed the American government placed all the Japanese immigrants in concentration camps. The Japanese immigrants were punished for the stupidty of a few.

ReplyDeleteIn the beginning of the football season, I was not doing well rememberig playes and could not get going. Also because of my performanc my possition was about to be taken. As we were doing board drills i felt like i couldent go no more. As i was about to go against another player. I herd a little voice in my ear say "You can do anythin I am here." and it inspired me instantly and i had faught for two weeks and got my possion back.
The thing is throughout history people have faught through impossible thing like the others have explained. But throught troubls we fight and live on.
I Know its to late however I think its funny to see how everyone refers to WWII when talking about major persecution, for being a certain type of person. No one ever refers to the American holocaust(the genecide of the indians). No one ever mentions when Stalin killed twenty million Russains. No one ever mentions When the Romans or the Egyptians, killed hundreds of thousands even millions, because they weren't like "me". I believe it to be a social faux pas, honestly think about every one only remembers the holocaust not say it wasn't bad. but seriously when some one mentions mas persecution they think, "Oh, Holocaust and the jews and/or Japanese americans in WWII!"
